Scott License Plate Spotted on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia"

Hello, my name is Doug and I suffer from S.S.O. (Scott Sailboat Obsession) a unique compulsion where the sufferer cannot help but notice the Scott Sailboat or Scott license plate as one muddles through their daily life.  While not debilitating, S.S.O. can cause impaired driving due to distraction.

However, if you do the marketing for the #1 Honda dealer in Pennsylvania and the all-new Scott Select, it comes in handy.

As a fan of the completely inappropriate, yet hilarious "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" a silver Honda Element caught my eye.  I should say the fuzzy white rectangle affixed to the front bumper caught my eye.  A replay via the DVR and a quick pause confirmed it...a Scott license plate made it on to national television.

In episode 5 of season 5, entitled "The Waitress is Getting Married" Dee Reynolds, played by Kaitlin Olson, discovers that the waitress Charlie is obsessed with is getting married to her ex-boyfriend and plots to derail the wedding.  In the scene pictured above Dee spots the waitress and her fiance walking down the street as she's driving her green Range Rover.  The Honda Element in question appears right behind her car in the scene and lingers in the shot for a bit while Dee begins her not so subtle sabotage of the waitress's impending nuptials.  As a side note, it worked, the wedding was canceled.

Tune in next Thursday Sept. 16th on FX for the season premier of "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia"...you'll be glad you did.

Keep your eyes peeled while you're watching the boob tube for a Scott Sailboat.  There are many opportunities find the boat, such as local news broadcasts, M. Night Shyamalan movies, or in the background of group tailgating pics for the Phils, Birds or PSU games on Facebook.

Scott Welcomes New Service Manager

When Don Chandler started working as a lot attendant, part-time after school in 1973, he never could have predicted that 37 years later he would be at the helm of one of the largest Honda Service Centers in the country.  But that is exactly where the Honda veteran finds himself these days.

"Scott Honda is one of the premier car dealers in the state and I wanted to stay in the Honda family.  So this was a natural fit," Don says of his move from Open Road Honda in Edison, New Jersey.

For the past three weeks Don has been observing his new team, learning whole bunch of names and settling in to his new position as Service Manager.  He says he's trying to see where he can make some subtle tweaks, streamline a couple processes and help continue to improve Scott Honda's commitment to top-notch customer service.

"I am excited to bring my 30 years of Honda experience to an already great dealership," Don told Sconda Blog.  "We're already the #1 Honda dealer in the state, but I think we can be #1 in the country."

When he's not working you may find Don on the links, he's avid golfer who regularly shots in the low 90's, he used to restore old GM muscle cars and thought his future career would be as a police officer.

His fellow employees and his happy customers are happy Don chose the path he did that led him to Scott Honda.

"Don is going to be a great fit for our Service Department," says Parts Manager Tom Worthington.  "He has a great background with both service and Honda which is just what we needed."

Scott Honda's Playin' Foursquare, Are You?

With the social media machine sprouting out new "thingy-ma-jiggys" everyday and laying to rest old "whozi-whats-its" the world of marketing can begin to feel like a ride being operated by Sylvester McMonkey McBean.

Enter Foursquare, "the next Twitter" raves social media experts Mashable (great source of tech and web info).  Making its debut in March 2009, Foursquare has been gaining steam in many large cities and making a name for itself as a real player in location-based social networking.

"The sheer number of social media sites, apps and products out there makes it hard to keep up from a marketing perspective, so you really have to do some research before you just jump in feet first," says Douglas P. Scott, marketing manager for the Scott Dealerships.  "The opportunity to make Foursquare both fun and beneficial for our customer base seems limitless."

Basically Foursquare works like this, a player gets points for "checking-in" at different businesses, events and locations. Whoever checks-in the most in a 60-day period becomes the mayor and may be privileged to a special item or discount just for them (even folks who aren't mayor can get specials discounts and gifts as well).  The goal is to get you to explore your area, the more places you check-in the more points and badges you earn.  It's quite addictive.

Scott Sailboat Spied in West Chester

The Scott Sailboat has been spied again on Google Street View and this time it was Sconda fan Jaime Kevles who had the patience to do what I couldn't...find the Sailboat in the mean streets of West Chester, Pa.  Jaime sent me this link only hours after our first Sailboat spotting was posted a couple weeks ago.  In return for her keen observational abilities Jaime will be getting a brand new Sconda hoodie.

Artist of the Month for April is Julia!

I know, I know it's July, but our budding artists deserve to have their work shown.  Congratulations to Julia and her wonderful Scott Sailboat named "Fabulos".  Your hard work earned you the title of Sconda Artist of the Month for April.

I have actually noticed some adults doing their best to stay within the line while coloring their sailboat.  I may have to start a grown up category!  Keep on coloring and we'll see you soon for May, June and July's AOTM.

Ella Wins Artist of the Month for March

It may not look like our traditional Sconda Artist of the Month, but something about Ella E.'s funky Scott Sailboat caught my eye.  It may have been the rainbow.  It may have been the bear with the peace symbol on it or what may be a green UFO flying in the upper right corner.  Either way the unique look of this psychedelic sailboat was enough to claim the AOTM for March.

The only problem for Ella was that she didn't name this beauty so that means we get to.  So from this blog post forth, the sailboat above will be known as the "Peace Bear Boat".

Sconda Hoodies Across America - FL

All of you who were planning a trip to Florida just so you could have your picture taken in a Sconda Hoodie will have to travel somewhere else, because David Bentley has made the Sunshine State his and taken the big peninsula off the SHAA map.

An avid fan of Space Mountain, Bentley knows it won't be easy to surpass current leader Ken Barker.  "I feel like the Phillies catching the Braves.  It's possible, but I have my work cut out for me."

With no other U.S. trips planned for the summer Bentley has his sights set on a bigger playing field.  "I am in the baby steps of preparing a trip overseas.  Maybe a Sconda Hoodies should go global?"

Sconda Hoodies Across the World has been mentioned more then a few times to me and I have planted a few Sconda seeds around the world that I'm hoping will grow in the form of our next contest.

Artist of the Month is Back!

After a brief sabbatical, Sconda's Artist of the Month is back and better than ever!  Just because the Sconda Blogger got bogged down in the creation of Scott Select didn't mean that our amazing artist's slowed down at all.  The main waiting room in service was crawling with new masterpieces just waiting to be discovered.

So a big congratulations goes out to Gracie, who took her time and did a great job on a Scott Sailboat she named "Odyssey", most likely named after the Honda minivan that took her home later that day. 

"There were so many really nice colorings, but this one just caught my eye," said Artist of the Month Judge, Sara Pyfer.

Sconda Hoodies Across America - CA

Bella "Boo" wasn't stopping with just Arizona in her bag of states, she managed to add The Golden State to her list and the summer is still young.  California is now the biggest, most populated state to be captured in the contest.

Just before she walked through the gates of Legoland California in Carlsbad, Bella struck a pose for Sconda Hoodies Across America, making the contest truly a coast to coast affair.  In a vacation that included Sea World and the beautiful beaches of Coronado, Legoland stole the show.

Using a total of 30 million lego bricks, Legoland California opened it's gates March 20, 1999 and the park itself is divided into nine major sections: The Beginning, Dino Island, Duplo, Village Green, Fun Town, Castle Hill, Miniland USA, Pirate Shores, Imagination Zone, and Land of Adventure.

"I loved Pirate Shores the best because I got soaked," Bella told Sconda Blog.  She went on to talk about the competition,  "I'm so excited that I got Arizona and California first for the hoodie contest.  I hope I can go on a few more trips this summer and get a few more states."

If that doesn't sound like a challenge to contest leader Ken Barker, I don't know what does.

Scott Sailboat Spied on Google Maps in L.A.

When Google Street View debuted the first thought in my dorky mind was, "Hmmm I wonder how many Scott Sailboats I can find?"  So I typed West Chester, Pa into the Google Maps search bar and proceed to virtually drive around the "Dub-C" (as the kids call it).  Well the task was so tedious and time consuming I eventually lost interest.

But then out of no where I received an intriguing email from one of our Internet Sales Consultants, Eric Bausman that rekindled my Scott Sailboat Obsession (S.S.O.).  The subject line read "Check this out Dad!/Scott Sailboat seen in Los Angeles". A resident of L.A., Eric's daughter Erika did what most people do, she checked out her house on Google Street View and there it was, a black Scott Sailboat on the back of her silver Honda Civic.

So I wonder, how many more Scott Sailboats are out there on Google Street View?
